Course:  The Physical Earth

In this course, students will utilize atlases and maps to learn about the continents and oceans of the earth.  Students will learn about major landforms and waterways and how those came to be.  A small amount of time will also be spent learning about the different cultures around the world.
Course:  Astronomy
Grade:  10 - 12

Prerequisite:  Physical Science

This course begins with a brief history of Astronomy, its instruments and people.  The course expands into a survey of the solar system, the various types of stars, stellar evolution and cosmology.  Students will spend time on identification, as well as problem solving, lab work and some research reports.

This course will include a study of earth's weather systems including atmospheric structure, composition and processes, origin and development of storms and related phenomena.

Prerequisite:  Physical Science

Minnesota’s geological past, focusing on such topics as: its rock record and history, fossils, mining, soils, lakes, rivers and ground water will be analyzed through lab work and hands-on activities. __________________________________________________________________________________________
