Seventh & Eighth Grades
The seventh and eighth grades operate on the four block day schedule.  The four blocks are allocated in the following manner:
One Block         Life Skills  (year long)
-Life Skills is a combination of disciplines including Health, Physical Education, Industrial 
Technology, Art, Family and Consumer Science, Spanish, General Music and Ag.
One Block         Mathematics and Science  (one semester each)
-Math is a combination of general and pre-algebra topics.
-Science involves both the Earth and Life Sciences.
One Block         Communications and Social Science  (one semester of each)
-Communications 7 and 8 are a combination of reading, writing, listening and speaking skills.
-Social Sciences 7 and 8 are a two year program of U.S. History  (pre-Columbian to present).
One Block          Practical and Fine Arts  (year long)
-Practical and Fine Arts is a combination of Band, Choir, Art and otherrelated courses.  It is strongly recommended that all students be enrolled in either Band and/or Choir.

As part of the Graduation Rule, students graduating from a high school in Minnesota are required to pass the Minnesota Basic Standards Tests in Reading, Math and Writing.  Students will take the tests in reading and math for the first time during eighth grade.  The writing test will be given for the first time during tenth grade.  A passing score of 80% or better is required to successfully complete this requirement.  More detailed information will be available to parents prior to testing.
