| Course: Physical Science
Grade: 9 - 12 Quarters: 2 Students will be introduced to the physical
world through investigations and projects. This class introduces
the basic topics in chemistry and physics with emphasis on practical applications
and societal issues. Lab work and hands-on activities are utilized
to teach the physical science concepts. (This course is recommended
for freshmen.)
This course will develop the fundamental concepts
of chemistry and apply these principles to every day experiences and issues
of society. The students will also apply the concepts in class investigations
and problem solving.
Chemistry II will spend time on Chemical Equilibrium, Oxidation-Reduction
Reactions, and Organic Chemistry. The chemistry of organic compounds will be
investigated along with the detailed chemical activity of living organisms.
__________________________________________________________________________________________ The four major categories that will be presented
in this class include: mechanics and heat, waves, electricity and nuclear
physics. These topics will be integrated into the classroom with
lecture, discussion, exercises and experiments. Emphasis will be placed
on the application of physics to our world.
