| Course: General Art
Grade: 9 - 12 Quarters: 1 Students will work with two-and three-dimensional
mediums and forms including drawing, painting, printmaking, and clay.
One nine-week segment will include the selection of a historical art form,
which will culminate in the creation of a body of artwork representing
that form.
Students will work with several two-dimensional
mediums on an in-depth level with emphasis on creating sound artistic composition.
Mediums include: acrylic paint, watercolor, pen and ink, linoleum printmaking,
collage, scratch board, and glass etching.
In this course, students will expand upon previously
learned techniques. Various media will be utilized to paint landscape
scenes.
Students will work with several three-dimensional
mediums and forms including pottery, sculpture, jewelry, mobile, and assemblage.
Design concepts as related to three-dimensional art will be integrated
into the course.
Students will sharpen their skills in working
with clay. They will practice “throwing” on the potter’s wheel and
will apply glazes to create their own unique designs.
Students will be involved in all aspects of
photography including: picture taking, development, lighting, camera angles,
etc. All students will be required to complete a photojournalism
project.
